Wooden Puzzle Recreated

More 3D printing!!

When I was growing up we had a wooden puzzle that had been made by one of my ancestors.  This wooden puzzle was played with by everyone that came to the house to play or visit.  It measured about 12" x 12" and could be put together in many different designs. A few years back our family created some more copies of this wooden puzzle and shared them with other family members.  Each of the kids ended up with a puzzle for themselves. Carl has now recreated this wooden puzzle on his 3D printer.  His printout measures about 6.25" x 6.25".  This is a picture of his 3D puzzle.

He even created a cover to go on the top of it so the pieces wouldn't fall out of the puzzle.  This cover slides into a slot made on the side of puzzle case.

He spent part of the evening tonight seeing how many different ways he could put the puzzle together.  He took pictures of 26 different solutions. I'm sure there are more ways because he didn't even take pictures of the "old", "well used" solutions.  Here are twelve of the ways he discovered to assemble the puzzle.

This is really fun to see him making a new modern version of a very old version of a childhood puzzle by using new technology.  Our children never cease to amaze us.
