100 things I love - part 2

This is part 2 in a series of 11 different posts.  The first post covered the topic "My ten favorite sites".  When the 11 posts are complete you will know 100 things about me whether you want to or not.  Of course, if you don't want to know them then you just don't have to read this blog.  If you don't read the blog then you won't be the wiser.  This post will cover my ten favorite activities.  The activities are not in any specific order.

My ten favorite activities:

  1. Vacationing - I love to go on vacations and see new places and new sites.  Some of my favorite vacation spots that I have been is: Canada, British Columbia, Nauvoo, Mount Rushmore, California: Sacramento, San Francisco and Disneyland, Mesa Verdi, Denver, Colorado, Capital Reef National Park and the Delicate Arch.
  2. Cemeteries - Yes, I love to tour cemeteries.  A couple of my favorite cemeteries would be the Salt Lake City cemetery and Ft. McPherson Cemetery, Maxwell, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA.  I've visited soooo many cemeteries that it is hard to narrow it down to my favorites.  There is a really cool headstone at the Salt Lake City cemetery.  It is a sculpture of a wheel chair and a little person standing up and walking away from the chair into the air.  It gives the impression that this little person has been released from the chair and is now able to walk and run.
  3. Family History Work  - I love to do family history work and learn about my ancestors.  I especially like finding photographs of them and putting a picture with a name.
  4. Visiting an LDS Temple - Doing temple work makes me happy and gives me joy and peace.
  5. Family gatherings and reunions - It is wonderful to be able to visit with family members and to learn about them and what is happening in their lives.  Families are forever so we need to love our families here so we'll be prepared to love them for eternities.
  6. Attending Genealogy Conferences - Once or twice a year I have the opportunity to escape and attend a genealogy conference.  It is so awesome and humbling to be around so many other people who are so much smarter than myself in genealogy.  It is wonderful to learn from them and improve my skills.
  7. Sewing and fabric shopping - I love to stroll very slowly through fabric stores.  I am in total amazement of the billions and billions of different patterns that can be found in fabric stores.  I'm always able to come out of the store with a new project or two.
  8. Camping and hiking - I like to go camping and hiking.  The older my children get the harder it is to find someone willing to go hiking and camping with me.  I think my father liked to go camp.  We always went camping whenever we went somewhere but that could be because we couldn't afford to stay in a motel.  I guess I just grew up doing it.
  9. Woodwork projects - Yes, I inherited a few of my father's carpenter genes.  I don't ever remember doing any woodwork projects with him but I like to cut things out and make different projects for the holidays.
  10. Home improvement projects - I like to build, sheet rock, mud, tape, wallpaper, tile and paint. Sometimes, I would rather paint than wash walls. Washing walls is boring.
So, there you have it: my ten favorite activities.
