I had the opportunity tonight to attend our Relief Society Stake Auxiliary Training meeting. For my part of the meeting I talked about the WOW moments in our lives. My thoughts came from a presentation given by a keynote speaker, Jyl Pattee, that spoke at the Rootstechs conference in March. Her presentation can be heard by visiting http://rootstech.org/ . My son made some stickers with a flower and WOW written on the front of them for me to hand out. Everyone can put their sticker somewhere to remind them to remember these experiences and share them with others.
A WOW moment is a moment that takes our breath away. Each one of us should be having WOW moments each day and then we need to share the moments with other. We can record them in journals, on a blog or some other social media.
In a talk given in the October 2007 LDS General conference President Henry B. Eyring gave a talk titiled "O Remember, remember." He tells the story about one evening he "came home late from a Church assignment. It was after dark. My father-in-law, who lived near us, suprised me as I walked toward the front door of my house. He was carrying a load of pipes over his shoulder, walking very fast and dressed in his work clothes. I knew that he had been building a system to pump water from a stream below us up to our property.
He smiled, spoke softly, and then rushed past me into the darkness to go on with his work. I took a few steps toward the house, thinking of what he was doing for us, and just as I got to the door, I heard in my mind - not in my own voice these words: "I'm not giving you these experiences for yourself. Write them down.""
President Eyring doesn't refer to his experiences as WOW moments but whether we are having WOW moments or other experiences it is important to write them down so they can be remembered and shared with our families.
