Historic Landmark

I've lived in Price now for thirty years and have been driving past the Greek Orthodox Church for that many years and I've never been inside of it until last Saturday.  The Carbon County Historical Society planned a field trip for their August meeting and gave me the opportunity to take a tour with them.

The building was officially dedicated on August 15, 1916 and is on the Utah Register of Historic Sites.  The actual name of the church is "Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church."  It was remodeled in the 1940's and the 1960's.  The inside is very beautiful with very detailed wood furniture, paintings and beautiful stained glass windows.  It was fun to finally get the opportunity to tour the building and learn about their culture and religion.

Looking up from the bottom of the stairs in the front of the building.

This is a close-up picture of one of the wood pieces of furniture in the church.  It had many pieces of beautiful, detailed work.
